MAN GETS 12 YEARS FOR SHABU

THE Quezon City Regional Trial Court has sentenced a man to 12 years
imprisonment for possession of 0.09 grams of shabu last year.

Branch 103 Judge Jaime Salazar Jr. found Benito Banado guilty beyond
reasonable doubt violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Records showed Banado was arrested on Feb. 17, 2003 in his house in Bgy.
Payatas, Q.C.

Arturo Flores, a member of the Barangay Service and Development Office in
Bgy. Payatas, testified that the accused and two others were arrested based
on the complaint of Ricky Toledo who claimed that he was held-up by three
men at a store on Jasmin St., Payatas.

Flores and the other BSDOs arrested Banado and two of his alleged cohorts.

The witness testified that he recovered a plastic sachet from Banado's pocket.

Salazar explained in his decision that Flores' testimony was credible.

"Flores should be commended for his persistence and determination to see to
it that the guilty goes behind bars," Judge Salazar added.

The Court also ordered the accused to pay a fine of P300,000.
