SHABU VENDOR GETS LIFE

THE Quezon City Regional Trial Court has sentenced a vendor to life
imprisonment for selling 0.02 grams of shabu to a police officer two years ago.

In a three-page decision, Branch 103 Judge Jaime Salazar Jr. found Yvonne
Sevilla, of Gana Compound,Unang Sigaw Balintawak, QC, guilty beyond
reasonable doubt of violating the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

Records showed that SPO2 Levi Sevilla, of the Central Police District
Station 3, posed as a buyer and went to he house of the accused together
with an informant on the night of Dec. 4, 2002 to buy shabu worth P100.

Sevilla handed a sachet of shabu upon receiving marked money from the
poseur-buyer.

After the exchange deal, Sevilla scratched his head as a pre-arranged
signal and immediately announced the arrest of the accused.

A sachet of shabu was seized from the accused.

In her defense, the accused claimed that a policeman identified as Cecil
Collado barged into her house and forced her to remove her underwear saying
that she was hiding a sachet of shabu in it.

The accused further testified that she was arrested when she refused to
remove her underwear.

Salazar explained that the court was not persuaded with the defense of the
accused.
