WOMAN GETS LIFE FOR 0.02G OF SHABU

A 35-year-old woman has virtually lost her life for peddling 0.02 grams of
shabu, or methamphetamine hydrochloride, in Quezon City.

The Quezon City Regional Trial Court on Thursday sentenced to life
imprisonment Sevilla of Gana Compound in Unang Sigaw, Balintawak, for
violations of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.

In his three-page decision, Branch 103 Judge Jaime Salazar found sufficient
evidence to convict Sevilla, who was arrested in a buy-bust operation two
years ago.

Senior Police Officer 2 Levi Sevilla of the Central Police District, who
posed as a buyer, closed a deal with Sevilla who handed him a packet of
shabu worth P100. He arrested the woman as soon as he received the contraband.

Sevilla, however, denied she sold the police officer a sachet of shabu and
claimed she was framed.

Sevilla claimed that an identified man barged into her house and forced her
to remove her underwear believing that she was hiding a sachet of shabu.

The accused said she was arrested when she refused to heed his order.
