INJECTING ROOMS NOT WANTED IN NT

The Country Liberal Party (CLP) says Northern Territory Chief Minister
Clare Martin should tell the ALP National Conference that heroin injecting
rooms are not welcome in the Territory.

A supervised heroin injecting room has been trialled in Sydney's Kings
Cross over the past two-and-a-half-years.

NT Opposition Leader Terry Mills says the Northern Territory Government
should oppose any move to make injecting rooms part of Labor's Federal policy.

"There is no place for injecting rooms here in the Northern Territory and I
call on the Chief Minister to stand up and reject this proposition that is
being discussed by the Federal Labor Party," Mr Mills said.

"We don't want it here, it doesn't belong in the Northern Territory, and
the Chief Minister needs to stand up for Territorians and not to play the
game to the Federal Labor Party - we don't want this sort of business here."
