END DRUG TESTING

I agreed with Leah Rorvig's excellent commentary on the
ineffectiveness of reducing student drug use through drug testing and
unannounced searches ( "Students find dialogue more effective than
drug testing," The Forum, Monday).

Such findings should compel schools to end testing and focus on
something that works: education and participation in sports and
after-school activities.

The most damaging consequence of the repressive drug war is that we
are teaching an entire generation of youth a disrespect for personal
liberties.
