REEFER MADNESS LETTER ELICITS COMMENT

Thanks for publishing Robert Sharpe's outstanding headlined Reefer
Madness in the Feb. 11 issue.

I agree with almost everything Sharpe wrote, however the solution is
not decriminalization, but rather full legalization of marijuana.

Only legal products can be controlled by governments.

Only legal products can be regulated by governments. And only legal
products can be taxed by governments.

Speaking of taxes, by keeping marijuana as a criminalized product, the
Canadian government is throwing away several billion dollars in
potential tax revenue every year.

It seems to me that non-marijuana users would be very much in favour
of taxing a product that they don't use.
