WHERE THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES ON THE ISSUES

WASHINGTON - A look at some of the positions of Republican President
Bush and Democrats contesting their party's presidential nomination.
They are former Vermont Gov. Howard Dean, Sens. John Edwards and John
Kerry, Rep. Dennis Kucinich and Al Sharpton.

MEDICINAL MARIJUANA

Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Hawaii, Maine, Nevada, Oregon
and Washington allow medical use of marijuana, but possession remains
illegal under federal law.

Bush: Has opposed legalization.

Dean: Would have Food and Drug Administration study issue, then follow FDA
recommendation.

Edwards: Opposes legalization until medicinal benefits are proved.

Kerry: Wants scientific review before deciding.

Kucinich: Legalize.

Sharpton: No known position.
