'CABBAGE' TIPS ON BBC END IN DRUGS RAID

A man who called a live BBC gardening show to ask for advice on growing
cannabis has had 18 healthy plants seized in a police raid.

Joe Mcloughlin, 33, gave his full name and home town when he telephoned the
Beechgrove Potting Shed on Radio Scotland, and received tips on how to grow
a variety of cannabis called Northern Lights.

The show later apologised for being so helpful, insisting that the
presenters thought he was asking about a variety of cabbage of the same name.

Mr Mcloughlin, who uses cannabis to treat a back condition, said police
removed 18 small plants from his Perth home.

A spokesman for Tayside Police said a 33-year-old man had been charged over
the incident. Mr Mcloughlin has not yet been told whether he will be
prosecuted.
