PROHIBITED GOODS DRIVE UNDERGROUND ECONOMY

Editor, The Record:

Re: Drugs drive underground economy, Feb. 12 edition,

Rich Coleman continues to take us all for saps. Of course drugs "drive the
underground economy" as will any prohibited good. When alcohol was
prohibited it drove the underground economy. If we banned waffles, they
would play a part in driving the underground economy. Ditto for sugar,
coffee, red meat or any popular foodstuff.

The best way to weaken the power of organized crime as well as the harm of
illegal drugs is to legalize all drugs and allow users once more to
purchase cheap, clean, quality tested drugs at the corner store.
