MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION DISCOVERED IN NANTON

No Charges Laid At This Time

Nanton News - Three adult males from Nanton have been arrested and released
after a marijuana grow operation was discovered Thursday, March 11. They
have not been charged at this point and the matter is still under
investigation.

Members of the Nanton RCMP, Lethbridge RCMP and members of the Calgary and
Red Deer Emergency Response Team executed a search warrant at a residence
in Nanton. The operation was in the process of being dismantled. The males,
whose identities aren't being released by RCMP, were arrested without incident.

"It's becoming more prevalent and it's not just localized to the major
cities," said Constable Terry Wickett. "As the public becomes more aware
through the media of what to look for, they are supporting the police
through their tips which help us gather information to curtail this type of
criminal activity."

Residents should be aware of people moving into the neighbourhood who
behave strangely, keep to themselves and avoid contact with others or have
frequent, unexplained long periods of absence.

The last marijuana grow operation that was uncovered in Nanton was several
years ago. There have been several grow operations in the rural area in the
last four to five years.
