ILLEGAL DRUG TAX INCREASES CRIME

TO THE EDITOR:

I read Judith R. Tackett's article "Drug dealing tax possible" (April 7, p.
6) on the Internet.

This is a brilliant idea! Drug prohibition was designed to fail anyhow, if
it succeeded lawmakers and police would not get their graft.

Why not let the government profit from its illegal drug market?

The federal, state, county and city or village governments could all rake in
a high tax on the illegal substance.

All the drug users would have to do is steal more from the rest of us to pay
it!
