LAYTON KNOWS JACK ABOUT JUSTICE

The Editor,

Re: "Decriminalize pot, Layton says," the Now, June 2.

Jack Layton has just disqualified himself as a worthy leader by wanting to
decriminalize pot. So if you cannot beat them, join them?

What about hard drugs like speed and crack cocaine? Should we add that in, too?

The reason we have this problem is because of spineless leaders who do not
have the guts to change the judicial system to penalize the offenders
properly. There is always a technicality upon which these guys get off. It
is an absolute joke.

It is time that the judges and lawyers be held responsible for the
decisions they make. If they allow a criminal to be set free and that
criminal breaks the law again, they should be held responsible for their
decision because the have violated the rights of the innocent people.
