Milad Saffari appeared in Port Coquitlam provincial court on Monday, where he was sentenced to two years less a day in jail, received a three-year term of probation, and is prohibited from possessing a firearm for the rest of his life. He has also been required to submit a sample of his DNA for registration purposes. Saffari pled guilty to manslaughter last year after he was originally charged with second-degree murder. Saffari, Vancouver's Parminder Singh Soor and two youths broke into a house at 8391 No. 4 Rd., just south of Blundell nearly two years ago. They had entered the house looking to steal marijuana, but a confrontation ensued between them and a gardener who was tending the lucrative illegal crop. Vancouver's Vi Soi Hoang, 41, was beaten to death in front of the house. Soor was sentenced in Richmond provincial court to six months in jail for breaking and entering with intent to commit an indictable offence. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
