CITY POLICE, MOUNTIES SWOOP ON METH OPERATION

City tactical cops helped Mounties raid an Edmonton apartment complex
Friday, netting $4,544 worth of methamphetamine and $4,350 in criminal
proceeds. "We were acting on a tip that we recently received in the
Edmonton office," said Const. Mark Anderson, of the RCMP K-Division Drug
Unit. Edmonton police drug detectives were aware of the one man arrested in
the raid Friday, Anderson said.

"They were able to provide us with some crucial background on the target,"
he said. "The sharing of information played an integral role in the success
of the RCMP investigation."

Cops are happy to see the drugs off the street, but it doesn't put much of
a dent in the available supply of meth in Edmonton, Anderson said.

On Friday afternoon, Mounties and Edmonton Police Service tactical members
executed a search warrant at an apartment complex near 156 Street and 101
Avenue, Anderson said.

RCMP seized 56.7 grams of meth, digital scales, other trafficking
paraphernalia, about $4,350 in cash, two counterfeit Canadian $10 bills,
and a counterfeit Canadian $50. Anderson set the street value of the
methamphetamine seized at $4,544.

Charged is 35-year-old Pierre Rock Cossette, of Edmonton.

He faces one count of possession for the purpose of trafficking, one count
of possession of property obtained by crime, two counts of breach of
recognizance and one count of possessing counterfeit money. Cossette is in
custody and is to appear in court today.
