AWARENESS SESSIONS

Workshops Will Help Unveil Information About Drug Use Among Teens

Camrose Canadian -- An information session is being offered to parents
interested in learning more about drug use among teens. Mary Wilton of
AADAC said a parent support group had been offered in the past but when
interest weaned, it was thought an information session would be more useful.

First Contact

"We're trying to be responsive to what we see, we've been doing a lot of
work in the schools and we wanted the first contact to be with the kids."

Next Step

The next step she said is meeting with parents.

Sponsored by AADAC, the parent information session will focus on drugs
commonly used by youth, parent-youth communication, prevention and
intervention if drug use is suspected.

The session will be held March 9 at the AADAC office from 7 p.m. to 9.

Tammy Richard and Wilton, staff members at AADAC will be leading the
session. Information packages will be provided and the organizers are
asking that parents confirm their attendance by March 4 by calling 672-1181.
