About 35 officers A- including uniformed, plain clothes detectives, community support officers and field intelligence staff A- were involved in a series of operations on Friday at King's Lynn, Dereham, Thetford, Swaffham, Watton, Mattishall, Downham Market and the Upwell area. As well as arrests, quantities of drugs were seized. Officers also had high visibility presence in some areas to discourage anti-social behaviour and they used new technology to scan 1200 vehicle registration plates in west Norfolk. Operation Harrier is an on-going campaign to target crime in the county. Two people were arrested on Friday in houses on the Fairstead estate and Gaywood areas of King's Lynn. They were given cautions for possession of cannabis. It followed the arrest of two people earlier in the week at North Lynn for possession of amphetamines worth an estimated A?4000-A?10,000. In Dereham, a warrant was executed at Norwich Road on Friday and a person was arrested on suspicion of possession of cannabis with intent to supply. Drug dealing equipment was found at the house. Also on Friday, two people were arrested on suspicion of possession of intent to supply drugs at Watton and one was arrested and then charged at Thetford after cannabis plants and equipment used to cultivate the drug were found. Cannabis was also seized from a property at Swaffham. In addition, high visibility patrols were carried out in Mattishall, on the Fairfields estate at Thetford and in Downham Market. Insp Kim Warner, who co-ordinated the operation, said: "I am pleased with the results. We have executed numerous warrants and there is a clear message that we will be knocking on doors." - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
