B.A.D. OFFERS COURSE TO DRUG PROOF KIDS

Barriere Against Drugs (B.A.D.) is still accepting submissions from
local artists for their logo. If you have an idea put it on paper and
drop it off at the North Thompson Volunteer and Information Centre.

The B.A.D. group will be hosting a facilitator training in Barriere
within the next few months on "How to Drug Proof Your Kid". Organizers
say funding has been received from Safer Streets for $5,000 which will
cover the cost of the course. Ten people are required to register for
the course. If you are interested in taking this course and helping to
train other parents on how to protect their kids from drug abuse
contact the Volunteer Centre at 672-0033.

"Funding is provided for the course but we would be glad to accept any
donations towards the cost," said Lisa Quiding, B.A.D. Core Group member.

Plans are underway to host another community meeting in the middle of
September and organizers are currently planning for a guest speaker to
attend.

The group discussed plans to work with government to have the Criminal
Code changed so that crystal meth is listed with the hard drugs not
with soft drugs like marijuana.

The Naranon group meets Thursdays at 6:30 pm at the Volunteer Centre
except for the second Thursday of each month and anyone is welcome to
attend.

For more information about Barriere Against Drugs and the programs
that are available through this organization call the Volunteer Centre
