"We have a few options that we're checking out," said Kath Hoffman, residential director, Safe Harbour. "We're just trying to find a place - -- it's very possible that we'll find one before October but we're still looking and researching." Hoffman added the board has recently built more partnerships with different people and organizations in the community. "People want to help us find a place," she said. Earlier this year, Safe Harbour had their permit revoked by the city's subdivision and development appeal board for a 20 bed detox centre and a 20 mat program for people intoxicated or high on drugs. The centre was to also have offices for management, a kitchen area, washrooms and laundry facilities. The location of the centre was to be at 5409-50 Avenue, the former EXH Engineering building. The appeal board based their decision on the fact the location was not compatible with the surrounding neighbourhood. Once a location is found Safe Harbour will receive a $750,000 indefinite annual grant from AADAC to run the detox centre and mat program. - --- MAP posted-by: Larry Seguin
