USE OF DRUG DOGS IN SCHOOLS IS DISTURBING

TO THE EDITOR:

RE: Nose for narcotics lands dog a job in local high schools (Jan. 12)

I am not the least bit surprised that many parents were in favour of drug
dogs in school. It is one more opportunity for parents to avoid dealing with
the situation themselves.

I don't think kids should be using drugs, and that includes caffeine, but I
think it is much more disgusting that we treat our students like inmates.

We are teaching them that until they are out of high school, they are the
property of the government.

No wonder so many of them use drugs!

Students are presumed guilty until examined thoroughly. Students should get
organized and protest this development.

What's next? Strip searches? Urine tests for every student every morning?

"Pee in the cup, Junior, or you don't get to learn anything today!"

Would that satisfy the school trustees and the police? They should all be
ashamed of themselves.
