WAITING IT OUT

Pot Laws - Re: "Canada should nix U.S. extradition bid," Danielle Smith,
Opinion, Aug. 6.

As an American who moved to Canada many years ago, I appreciate those who
insist on treating Canada as a different country rather than another state.

DEA boss Karen Tandy's overconfident boast that "drug legalization
lobbyists now have one less pot of money to rely on," fails to take into
consideration that the DEA itself relies on huge financial resources to
conduct its activities and that it, along with all other U.S. government
departments that specialize in attacking people who have chosen to
self-medicate, will run out of money before we run out of time.

While DEA agent Rod Benson will not be pleased to hear this, the reality is
many people regard abuse of others as a more serious offence than "abuse of
the rule of law."
