It is suspected that this Methamphetamine had previously come from the Kamloops area and was destined for use in Barriere. Police are contemplating charges, however at this time no charge has been made. This marks the first police seizure of Methamphetamine in Barriere and is a definite reminder to all citizens that it continues to be a prevalent problem in the community Police wish to remind the public that these types of drugs and their dealers are difficult to locate and any information in any form is needed by the Barriere RCMP in attempt to curb the supply of drugs in Barriere. Barriere has a unique opportunity to stop the drug dealing in the community, being a small town that is just beginning to experience an influx of drugs which major cities know all too well is a devastating problem. Barriere needs to rally together and take a stand against drugs in the community. Many people in Barriere have volunteered countless hours in educating the public and providing information and treatment options through local organizations such as Barriere Against Drugs (B.A.D). Nevertheless, the onus is on the general public to report information which may be useful to the RCMP. Eliminating drugs from Barriere is something which requires numerous avenues of attack such as education, treatment and police enforcement. Many people in this community have family and friends that are using drugs or alcohol and need help to break away from the addition. Barriere has drug rehabilitation programs and information pamphlets locally. Kamloops features drug treatment centers with programs specific to Methamphetamine addictions.
