$1,500 DONATION ORDERED

A 26-YEAR-OLD local man pled guilty this week to possessing cannabis
resin along with other drugs, receiving a $500 fine and an order to
contribute $1,500 to the Collingwood OPP's Drug Abuse Resistance
Education (DARE) program.

On Tuesday, federal Crown Cecile Applegate read that Jason Nacinovich
was apprehended by officers of the Huronia Combined Forces Drug Unit
on Dec. 8, 2004, after surveillance by police on other suspects led to
the defendant and another man.

Both were originally charged with possession for the purpose of
trafficking, court heart.

A search revealed Nacinovich had $6,176.44 in cash, 50 10 mg tablets
of oxycodone concealed "in his crotch area," 19 grams of cannabis
marijuana - and a quantity of cannabis resin not exceeding three kilograms.

In her synopsis Applegate said as the money belonged to the defendant,
the prosecution was not alleging it to be the proceeds of crime. She
added arrangements had be made with the defence for the donation to
DARE plus the fine totalling a $2,000 hit." Nacinovich has 60 days to
pay.
