WHERE IS THE INDIGNATION?

Should we not all be disturbed at the ready acceptance of a child (at 13
years old is she a youth?) wandering the streets and taking dope? The
authorities and the Times Colonist warn of the dangers of contamination as
if the drug itself were not contamination enough. Be careful of from whom
and what you buy! What an abdication of responsibility! Where is the
indignation?

Is it possible that there is insufficient information available about the
dangers of ingesting drugs? Do not schools, parents drill this information
into these unformed minds?

Perhaps I am old-fashioned but I believe that parents should be aware of
exactly what their child is doing and with whom at all times. Peer pressure
is difficult to resist but it becomes all too easy to accept when adult and
authority acceptance is apparently so universal.

Norman Willoughby,

Saanichton.
