DRUG TESTS FOR WORKERS IN BIZ SECTOR URGED

A former forensic chief of the National Bureau of Investigation
regional office is urging businesses and industrial establishments to
require their employees to undergo drug tests.

Cesar Cagalawan, who is now the president of the Philippine Drug
Screening Laboratory Inc., said job applicants should be properly
screened first to determine whether they are drug users.

But Cagalawan said he has information that some companies ignore such
a requirement. Cagalawan also suggests that companies conduct random
drug tests.

He said the business sector plays an important role in minimizing if
not totally solving the drug problem.
