COKE, POT AND CANADA

 From MIKE SPINDLOE,

Vancouver -- Who cares whether Parti Quebecois leadership candidate Andre
Boisclair used cocaine (PQ Front-Runner Deflects Questions About Cocaine
Use -- Sept. 17)? It's time to stop demonizing and criminalizing drug
users, just as it's time to stop demonizing and criminalizing certain
drugs. Using drugs does not make you a bad person or a risk to society, but
prohibition manufactures crime and, thus, criminals.

It's time for us to stop the madness of the U.S.-led war on drugs. Canada
has an opportunity to lead the way by not extraditing long-time pot
activist Marc Emery to the U.S. and by legalizing marijuana.
