DON'T TURN BLIND EYE TO ADDICTS

Dear editor,

It is with interest that I read where Dr. Granger Avery is looking
for rehab facilities in the North Island. Perhaps 'The House' isn't
quite what he is referring to, but it is certainly a place for people
to stabilize in.

What was most interesting to me was to receive word that Port Hardy
council has decided not to give a tax break this year to 'The House',
and yet there is such a need for it. It saddens me that once I left,
there seems to be a memory lapse.

All people from every walk of life are a part of the social fabric of
Port Hardy and the North Island, not just those who appear to have no
addiction, housing, economic, mental or emotional issues.

There are many functioning addicts in every town.

Please don't start turning a blind eye now.

Try working together for the betterment of all people for the good of
the whole town and the North Island.
