GET TO KNOW YOUR 2006 CANDIDATES

It's October 2005, and the gubernatorial race is already heating
up. Several candidates have declared eligibility, and there could be
more to come. So far, there have been five major candidates announced
for the 2006 election.

The two Republican candidates are incumbent Gov. Bob Riley and former
Alabama Chief Justice Roy Moore.

The Democrats running include Lt. Gov. Lucy Baxley and former Gov. Don
Siegelman. Loretta Nall, who is seeking the nomination of the
Libertarian Party of Alabama, has also announced her candidacy. With
two viable candidates in each major party, there could be two tight
primaries in July 2006.

The Republican primary will pit the religious side of the GOP against
the pro-business conservatives.

Loretta Nall Nall hopes to get the nomination from the Alabama
Libertarian Party in an attempt to offer Alabama citizens an
alternative to the norm. "I want to represent the part of Alabama that
doesn't get represented,"; Nall said. "I'm going to address the issues
that the other candidates are too afraid to touch."; These issues
include possible legalization of marijuana, noncompliance with the
Patriot Act and abolishment of the public school system.
