The move would virtually wipe out the black market and its associated violence. Think of the revenue potential and the probability of eliminating the parole system because there would be so much extra room in our prisons. Legal or not, the proportion of people consuming these substances will remain constant. It is futile and counterproductive to prohibit the consumption of any given substance, be it alcohol, tobacco, pot, cocaine or heroine. Get it over with and legalize the lot of it.
