Beginning Monday, several of the kindergarten-through eighth-grade sites have made the following plans: Veritas The message at the district's newest campus says it all: "Veritas Vipers, Sssay no to Drugsss." The school located south of the Highway 120 Bypass will kick off the week Monday with an assembly, allowing students to make their drug-free pledge. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, students could "Team Up Against Drugs" by wearing sports jerseys of their choice. Veritas youngsters can wear red on Wednesday, which is known as "Put Drugs in the Red." And on Thursday, students can show their support by wearing their crazy hats during "Put A Cap on Drugs" day. Golden West The theme here is "Rule Your World, Make the Drug Free Choice." On Monday, students will receive their bracelets, and are being encouraged to wear it during the entirety of Red Ribbon Week. They'll also receive their drug-free coloring books and intermediate and junior high students. Students can showcase their favorite sports team at Tuesday's Sports Day. The theme for day is "Be a Professional, Don't Use Drugs." Wednesday, Oct. 26, is Information Day, with a protection dog assembly planned for youngsters in PM kindergarten through second grades. Those in third through sixth grades will be able to see a Tae Kwon Do demonstration in the cafeteria while junior high students will be asked to take on a challenge in the gymnasium. Thursday, Oct. 27, is Pledge Day, where each student will make a handprint while pledging to be drug free. Spirit Day is Friday, Oct. 28. Students are being encouraged to wear their blue and gold school colors. Great Valley The Red Ribbon theme at the Weston Ranch campus is "Plant the Promise," with each class having an opportunity to plant red tulips on the school grounds on Monday. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, each class will have on display a poster implementing the Red Ribbon theme in the cafeteria. All essays are due on Wednesday, Oct. 26, with the winners of both the poster and essay contests being announced on Thursday, Oct. 27. On Friday, Oct. 28, the entire school will be encouraged to wear red. Each of the essay winners will have a chance to enjoy a pizza party held in their honor. Lathrop Beginning on Monday, K-2 students will have their poster ready for display, using the week-long theme: "Rule Your World! Make the Drug Free Choice." Each student will also receive a Red Ribbon wristband. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, the school will have an essay and poetry contest for K-8 students. A classroom door decorating contest is planned for all grade levels on Wednesday, Oct. 26. The PTC has scheduled the Family Pizza Night for Thursday, Oct. 27. Those students still wearing their wristband on Friday, Oct. 28, will be recognized on Friday, Oct. 28, with an assembly, "Perfection on Wheels," also among the plans. Joseph Widmer Each student will take the drug-free pledge while receiving the Red Ribbon wristband on Monday. On Tuesday, Oct. 25, the junior high students will decorate the fence using the drug free slogan. The student body will receive red ribbons to take home and tie around a tree on Wednesday, Oct. 26. On Thursday, Oct. 27, youngsters will make hand prints while taking the pledge to stay clear of alcohol, tobacco and drugs. Students and staff are encouraged to get into the spirit on Friday, Oct. 28, during Wear Red Day. Lincoln Each student on Monday will have a chance to sign and display in the hallway cards that state, "I Elect to be Drug-Free." On Tuesday, Oct. 25, kindergarten students will receive drug-free stickers, grades 1-3 will get the Red Ribbon wrist bands, and grades 4-8 will be given Red Ribbon pencils. Grade level posters will be on display on Wednesday, Oct. 26. On Thursday, Oct. 27, the junior high students will have a chance to attend the drug awareness assembly at 2:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 28, is Wear Red Day, with the entire school encouraged to get into the Red Ribbon Week spirit. George Komure The K-8 Weston Ranch school will open Monday with a health and fitness theme. Students will wear wrist band, decorate the windows in the their classroom, and post a message on the outside fence: "G.K. Says No To Drugs." On Tuesday, Oct. 25, K-6 students will take part in the poster contest, using the theme: "Rule Your World." In order to promote health, students have pledged to run a mile on Wednesday, Oct. 26. An essay contest for 3-8 students will take place on Thursday, Oct. 27, while winners for each of the week-long contest will be announced on Friday, Oct. 28, which is also Wear Red Day. Stella Brockman Monday is put a cap on drugs by wearing a cap to school. Tuesday students are encouraged to wear slippers to give drugs the slip while Wednesday is "Lei off Drugs" with students encouraged to make their own paper lei and wear them to school. Thursday is "team Up Against Drugs" wit students encouraged to wear a team jersey to school while Friday is "take A Stand for a Drug Free Land" wiht students encouraged to wear patriotic colors. - --- MAP posted-by: Jay Bergstrom
