MARIJUANA OPERATION FOUND AFTER MAN CALLS PARAMEDICS

A Gorham man is under investigation for allegedly growing marijuana
after authorities were called to his residence after a tractor
severed his arm, police said.

Raymond Gedaminski, 52, was mowing his property in Gorham, which is
about 20 miles west of Carbondale, at about noon Thursday when he was
thrown from his tractor. His left arm got caught in a rotary motor
and was severed, Sgt. Michael O'Leary of the Jackson County Sheriff's
Department said. He then picked up his arm and walked back to his
house about 100 yards away to call paramedics.

Once paramedics arrived and tended to Gedaminski, authorities were
issued a search warrant and consequently found a marijuana growing
operation, O'Leary said. Police would not comment as to whether the
marijuana was found in his house or property. They also declined to
comment how much was discovered because the incident is still under
investigation. Gedaminski was taken to St. Joseph's Hospital in
Murphysboro and was later transferred to St. Louis University
Hospital because doctors in Murphysboro were unable to reattach his arm.

Gedaminski is under investigation but has not been charged with
anything related to the marijuana growing operation.
