JUDGE ORDERS SEIZED SHABU DESTROYED

DAVAO CITY - A local judge has ordered authorities to destroy 100
kilos of high-grade shabu valued at nearly P200 million and chemicals
seized from a shabu laboratory raided in Barangay Dumoy here on New
Year's Eve.

Judge Renato Fuentes of Regional Trial Court Branch 9 originally
wanted the seized shabu destroyed last Friday but later decided to
move it to Feb. 2.

But Superintendent Wilkins Villanueva, Southern Mindanao chief of the
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA), said they need more time to
carry out the court order.

"We have to create a team that will carry out the destruction of the
substances safely because they are very hazardous to the environment,"
he said.

Only portions of the seized shabu and chemicals shall be kept as
evidence in the prosecution of Allan Sy, the shabu lab's alleged
financier who is still at-large, and other suspects.

Six Oriental-looking foreigners were killed during the raid on the
shabu lab. They, however, remain unidentified since no one has claimed
their bodies at the Angel Funeral Homes in Toril district.
