POLICE: ROBBERY FOR POT, NOT STEREO SYSTEM

The report early Saturday was that a man had burst into [name
deleted] apartment and tried to steal a stereo system he was
attempting to sell.

But authorities now say the focus of that robbery - and the
interrupted sales discussion - was a quarter pound of marijuana.

La Crosse police say they're looking for the high-grade marijuana and
are trying to unravel just what happened in [name and address deleted]

[name and age deleted] called police just after midnight to report a
man broke into his apartment while he and [name, age and city
deleted] were inside discussing the sale of a stereo.

[name deleted] told police the man, dressed all in black, yelled,
"Give me your .. system and your money," then attacked him, according
to the report. [name deleted] said he was punched several times
before he wrestled free and grabbed a shotgun from under a bed,
scaring the man off, according to the report.

After some investigating, police arrested [names deleted] on Sunday
and released them on signature bonds pending a court appearance Thursday.

Arrested Monday was [name, age and address deleted] on suspicion of
armed robbery and battery.

[name deleted] appeared at a bond hearing Tuesday. Assistant District
Attorney Todd Bjerke said charges are expected to be filed today
against [name deleted].

Bjerke was unsure Tuesday what charges will be filed against [names deleted].
