LISA MADIGAN TO RUN AGAIN IN 2006

Lisa Madgan Seeks Re-Election

Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan announced Sunday that she will
run for re-election in 2006.

Speaking to about 100 cheering supporters at a rally in Chicago,
Madigan said her priorities would continue to include protecting
children from sexual predators and cracking down on fraud.

"We have really made differences in people's lives . . . differences
for the better, differences you can see," the 39-year-old said at a
downtown hotel.

Madigan also singled out the explosive growth across the state of
methamphetamine.

"Meth is the fastest growing drug threat in Illinois," she said.

Madigan became the first woman to be elected attorney general of
Illinois in 2002. Before her election, she served in the Illinois Senate.

She was introduced at the Chicago rally Sunday by Sheila Simon, the
daughter of U.S. Sen. Paul Simon. Madigan's husband, freelance
cartoonist Pat Byrnes, also attended.

Madigan planned to make several campaign stops around the state
starting on Monday.
