NEW CAMPAIGN TARGETS DRUG DRIVING

We all know the dangers of drinking and driving, but another deadly
cocktail has local health care providers concerned . The Thunder Bay
District Health Unit is using drug awareness week to launch a new
campaign about 'Drug Driving'.

Judi Marton with the Health Unit says the number one killer of
Canadians between ages 14- 25 is motor vehicle collisions. In 40 per
cent of these accidents alcohol and/or drugs are involved.

Teens aren't the only ones being targeted this week. Dan Ventrudo with
the Sister Margaret Smith Centre says studies show that many students
are first exposed to drugs and alcohol messages when they hit Grade
5.

To get the message out, the centre launched a poster contest this week
for grade 5's and awards will be handed out Tuesday for best posters.
