GORDY GOT KENNY OFF METH

Editor, the News:

A little over a year ago, I was living in a tent in the bush, down
with bronchial pneumonia and addicted to crystal meth.

Gordy Robson convinced me to move into the Salvation Army Caring Place
under the transitional housing program.

Acting as my advocate and lending me some money, he got my driver's
license reinstated, making me more employable.

Also acting as my advocate, he got my ICBC debt reduced by
approximately $1,300.

In the year that's past since taking his advice, I've been drug free,
employed steady, rented an apartment - for myself and my teenage
daughter - bought a pickup truck, completed a Level 2 industrial
first-aid course, completed a trades safety co-ordinator course and am
currently working for a saw mill installation company for $22.50 an
hour.

If Gordy Robson had not taken the time or consideration to get me off
the street and off meth, I might not be alive today.

The way I see it, Gordy not only cares about the big picture in Maple
Ridge, he cares about the homeless.

Thanks, Gordy. I got my self-esteem back and I'm proud of what I've
done since I took your advice.
