HEROIN CASE MORE HEARTBREAK IN OZAUKEE COUNTY

Reading about the tragic death of Angela Raettig is heartbreaking
("Heroin probe includes several agencies," Dec. 8). I am a 2003
graduate of Homestead High School, and hearing about Angela's death in
Cedarburg hit close to home. In my eyes, this situation has only
highlighted the ineffective means that Ozaukee County officials use to
prevent drug use.

It seems people in Ozaukee County keep dying, except they keep dying
younger by the month. The death of Matt Sheridan, a man I knew
personally, still lingers in my mind. The response to Sheridan's case
was appalling. Hardly any administrative action was taken against, for
lack of a better word, incompetent police officers.

I feel sorry for Ryan Hinkle, who now in addition to a dead friend has
to worry about a felony bail-jumping charge. These people need help,
not punishment.

My heart goes out to Angela's family.
