What most people do not understand is that addiction touches not only the person who is addicted but everyone else that the person is connected to. This is a disease that has to be controlled. Without the proper treatment, it will run rampant. This disease touches not only the skid-row type of person, but also people in prominent professions, such as your doctor, lawyer, teacher, pastor, minister, and the list goes on and on. This debilitating disease could touch you or me very easily, given circumstances that arise in our lives. Brentwood Recovery Home would be the only residential treatment program that would be in existence and would not be able to accommodate the large number of addicts that require treatment as soon as possible. I would strongly urge that city council help save the lives of people who desperately need this help as soon as possible, and not to be put on a waiting list, which may be too late.
