KIDS TO BE TAUGHT ON DRUGS

GOVERNMENT personnel will be assigned schools to teach children the
dangers of being hooked on drugs.

The 28 personnel from the Philippine of National Police (PNP),
Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the Department of
Education (DepEd) have already undergone trainings on drugs in
November under the Drug Abuse Resistance Education (DARE) Program,
said Councilor Ma. Belen Acosta.

Acosta explained the DARE program is a training that prepares a
government personnel on how to teach children how resist pressures in
experimenting with drugs and other harmful substances.

Aside from teaching the children, the DARE officers will also visit
classrooms randomly to get acquainted with student behavior in and out
of their classrooms, Acosta added.

Mayor Rodrigo Duterte and the DepEd already signed a memorandum of
agreement in implementing the program.

"It aims generally to increase the knowledge and awareness of our
children and others in the academic sector on drug related issues and
concerns that strongly remain to be one of the most alarming threats
today as it also intends to restore the moral Ccharacter and value for
health and life preservation," Duterte said.

"We wish to express our full support and cooperation to this laudable
program with hope and faith in God for its continuity and
sustainability," Duterte said.

The city council committee on education which Acosta heads will
continue to extend full support to the program, she added.

"I truly hope that DARE would be successful in its vision to sway our
youth from drug addiction," Acosta said.
