MUSLIM GIRL NABBED FOR SELLING SHABU

A 14-year-old female Muslim believed to be a drug courier in northern
Metro Manila was arrested during a buy-bust operation Saturday
afternoon in Malabon City.

The unidentified girl, who gave her address as the Islamic Center in
Quiapo, Manila is now detained at the Malabon police headquarters,
said Insp. Jorge Tabayag, chief of the Station Anti-Illegal
Drugs-Special Operation Task Force (SAID-SOTF).

The suspect was caught around 4:30 p.m. along P. Concepcion Street,
Barangay Tugatog by Tabayag and his men during a buy-bust operation
with one of the arresting lawmen acting as shabu buyer.

SAID-SOTF agents pounced on the teen suspect after she handed the
"buyer" a small sachet containing shabu in exchange for a P100 bill
laced with ultraviolet powder. When frisked, the suspect yielded two
more sachets weighing 2.47 grams.

Prior to the girl's arrest, Tabayag said they received information
that she was looking for buyers.

The operation was supposed to take place along MacArthur Highway,
Barangay Balubaran, Valenzuela City but it was changed at the
suspect's request.

After informing the suspect of her constitutional rights, SAID-SOTF
agents immediately brought her to the police headquarters.

Police theorized that the suspect was merely acting as courier of a
drug ring operating in the Caloocan-Malabon-Navotas-Valenzuela
(Camanava) area. Likewise, they think that she has been in the
business for years as she appeared to be very knowledgeable in dealing
with prospective drug buyers.
