WE ALL HAVE OUR ADDICTIONS

As an addictions counsellor and a recovering addict, I want to point out
that just because drug use is illegal, it does not mean addicts will stop
being addicts.

One letter writer suggested that, if we got rid of drug users and sellers,
the problems would be gone. Where does she think they should go?
Co-dependency is the underlying cause of all addictions, not criminal
behaviour.

Laws have added the "criminal part" to what is a wound in the human soul.
We who don't use illegal drugs have our own set of addictions running us.
