SHABU LAB RAIDED IN VALENZUELA

THE National Bureau of Investigation and Philippine Drug Enforcement
Agency raided a suspected shabu laboratory yesterday in Valenzuela
City.

NBI director Reynaldo Wycoco said authorities were armed with a search
warrant issued by Executive Judge Floro Alejo of the Valenzuela City
Regional Trial Court when they stormed into the house in Bgy. Parada,
Valenzuela City.

Wycoco said the operation was conducted following complaints regarding
Chinese-looking men frequenting the place at dawn.

The shabu laboratory can reportedly produce at least 100 kilos of
shabu worth more than P200 million weekly.

"They only come and go without practically staying. They load boxes
containing unknown products on trucks Authorities inspect the
equipment seized from the suspected drug laboratory. Photo by JON-JON

Residents trooped to the PDEA and the NBI offices yesterday to
complain of the intoxicating smell emanating from the supposed
warehouse rented by one James Tan last Dec. 29.

The owner of the compound, Jerry Yu, of 246 De Guzman St., Fortune
Village 7, Bgy. Parada, stressed that he was not aware of Tan's
purpose for renting the facility.

Seized from the suspected shabu lab were three steel drums containing
pungent-smelling chemicals, which were later found to be liquid shabu.

Lawmen also found machines that can process raw materials into
shabu.

Authorities are hunting down Tan.
