INJECTION SITE MAKES SENSE

Editor:

I could not agree more with the suggestion to have a safe injection
site in Kamloops.

And, the people that disagree and don't want it in "their backyard"
sound a little ignorant, if you ask me.

The comments made by Troy Richet: "We need to get these people off the
street and cleaned up."

What do you think they are trying to do?

Once these people are visiting a safe injection site there are going
to be people there who can give them treatment options.

Not to mention, the "prostitute problem" where many of those suffer
from an addiction as well and this will be a valuable resource for
them. It is not just about cleaning up needles.

How do you know that your neighbour or co-worker or someone that you
know isn't an addict?

These are people who deserve the right to have options or at least
somewhere safe they can go.

Even if one person gets cleaned up because of this new site, that is
one life saved. We shouldn't turn a blind eye toward people who need
help.

It is not right to pass judgment against anyone who is an addict,
because it is a disease and these people need help.
