ANTI-DRUG GROUP TO HOST WORKSHOP ABOUT HUFFING

To combat youth inhalant abuse, the Jackson-Madison County Anti-Drug
Coalition is holding a workshop for parents and teachers to help them
become more aware of the growing problem.

"One of the reasons we're doing this is because illicit drug use is down
but inhalant abuse is up," said Hilda Little, the organization's
coordinator. "We're trying to teach as many teachers as possible so they
can look for the warning signs and decide for themselves how they want to
address the issue."

The workshop is a community outreach project in recognition of March as
National Inhalant Awareness Month, Little added.

The anti-drug coalition has about 99 volunteer members and meets on the
second Tuesday of every month.

"Our meetings are open to the public," Little said. "We welcome new members
interested in drug awareness and prevention in the community."

The inhalant abuse workshop will be held at Liberty Technology High School
Auditorium from 6 to 8 p.m. March 15 and is open to the public.
