DRUGS CONTROLLED BY DRASTIC MEASURES IN OTHER COUNTRIES

To the editor;

Years ago, I was talking to a man from Lebanon, and our conversation turned
to the drug problem, "We don't have a drug problem in Lebanon," he said.

Surprised, I asked him how it was controlled there, "If anyone is caught
producing or selling illegal drugs, he is shot and buried. His grave is
marked with who he was, and why he was shot. Then his family is sent the
bill," he said.

"And what do they do with the addicts," I asked?

He said there are none for obvious reasons.

This seems to me to be a far more effective control than we have here, here
we have a pathetic, ineffective court system that protects criminals,
punishes victims and runs government with all the standards that are found
in a vulture (But that is another book).

To the Feb. 14 letter from John Sibbelee, right on John! You've said it right.

Ed Bryant, Barriere

Editor's note: We would hope that within our society cooler heads prevail
regarding controlling substance abuse. Education, awareness, and support
can and will make a difference.
