Hydroponics Not The Villain

Dear Sir:

I have a question. With all of the hysteria from our highest ranking public 
officials regarding the scourge of so-called marijuana grow-ops, "They are 
all run by organized crime", they kill police officers, they steal hydro 
and so on, I just have one question for them.

What is it that causes hydroponic pot to have these effects but not other 
hydroponic products like say lettuce or tomatoes?
