Referenced: http://www.mapinc.org/drugnews/v05/n434/a05.html?22404 DON'T SET OUR LAWS BY U.S. POLICY RE "POT policy is smoke and mirrors" (March 13): I see Lorrie Goldstein is closely following the Toronto Sun corporate line that it is pointless to legalize the drug until the U.S. does because criminals will still be involved in the export of the weed. Isn't it possible that if we legalize marijuana, some of those erstwhile criminals will convert their illicit business into a hugely profitable paragon of corporate governance as Samuel Bronfman did with his Distillers Corporation when alcohol was legal here in Canada but illegal in the U.S.? In any event, since when do we allow America a veto power over domestic social policy? Alan Randell Victoria, B.C.
