GROW-OP WASN'T THE REAL TARGET

Dear Editor:

In regard to your story on the fallen RCMP officers ("RCMP murders
resonate with local members", Mar 9) - you've taken the knee jerk
reaction that most media outlets did and stated that they were there
to bust a marijuana grow up.

Were they not in fact there to repossess a stolen truck and then
stumbled upon the grow-op? This grow-op target makes it seem like this
was the major problem. The guy was a problem child in many respects,
not just a drug dealer.

Suppose it's all about semantics. Note we didn't say they were "there
to bust a marijuana grow op", we said: the RCMP members were killed
while "attempting to bust a marijuana grow op"

They may not have gone looking for a bust, but they didn't exactly
turn a blind eye when they "stumbled upon" one.
