VIGILANTES GUN DOWN EX-COP, FRUIT VENDOR

MEMBERS of the shadowy vigilante group continue to strike even during
the Lenten season.

A former policeman and a young jackfruit vendor were the latest
victims of summary executions in Davao City after they were gunned
down in two separate incidents Wednesday.

First to fall was Christopher Paraiso, 21, of Green Street, Bugac,
Maa, who was shot to death by a lone-armed man while slicing a
jackfruit at around 8:40 a.m. Wednesday at Pag-asa in Bankerohan.

Paraiso sustained gunshot wounds in the leg, neck and chest from a .45
caliber handgun that resulted to his instantaneous death.

The victim's younger brother Dioniso, 16, who witnessed the incident,
got a bolo and tried to run after the assassin but failed.

Dionisio, out of anger, instead hit a four-year-old
kid.

Nine hours later, two armed men gunned down Julius Antido, 45, at
Times Beach, Ecoland.

Based on police records, Antido, a former member of the City Mobile
Group and a resident of Barangay 76-A, went Awol (absence without
official leave) since year 2000.

According to Senior Police 0fficer 3 John Victoriano of the Talomo
Police Station, Antido was going home after watching a cockfight when
the armed men on board a motorcycle approached and shot him at close
range around 5:10 p.m.

Antido succumbed to five gunshot wounds. The victim's .357 gun was
recovered from the crime scene.

Police said Antido was tagged by Mayor Rodrigo R. Duterte as involved
in illegal drugs trade in the city.

It was also learned that the victim's brother, Vicente Antido, 43, was
also slain by the vigilante group called Davao Death Squad in July
last year.

Vicente was one of the 10 individuals who were reportedly involved in
drugs being hunted down by the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency.
