VETERAN POLICE OFFICER ARRESTED ON DRUG CHARGE

Veteran police officer arrested on drug charge A 13-year Baton Rouge police
veteran who applied to be chief last year was arrested Friday, accused of
using multiple identities to buy prescription painkillers on the Internet.

Cpl. Robert Duclo, 36, who was an internal affairs investigator, resigned
after his arrest, a Baton Rouge Police news release says.

Duclo "apparently developed an addiction to prescription painkillers due to
back problems," Chief Jeff LeDuff said in the release.

Duclo was arrested following an investigation by a drug task force composed
of local and federal authorities.

He applied to be chief of police last year and was one of 27 applicants to
pass the chief's test. LeDuff ultimately got the job.

Duclo was to be booked into Parish Prison on counts of obtaining a
controlled dangerous substance by fraud and possession of a Schedule 3
drug, the news release says.
