LEGISLATORS CARE ABOUT CONSTITUENTS WHEN IT SUITS THEIR OWN PURPOSE

I cannot believe the hypocrisy of our state legislators. To hear Norm
Rokeberg say that he has to support the bill to recriminalize
marijuana because the majority of his constituents support it
("Lawmakers stand firm against marijuana," April 8). The Legislature
is doing the same thing with this abortion poll (April 15). They want
to show the court that the majority of Alaskans support the
Legislature in its endeavor. Why is it that the Legislature only cares
about what we, their constituents, think when it supports their view?

The majority of Alaskans were against killing wolves. Did Norm listen
to the majority of his constituents? No, he and his fellow Republican
legislators stacked the Game Board with pro-kill advocates. So please
stop using the excuse about the majority of your constituents, and
just tell us the truth: You don't care what we think, and that right
or wrong you will do what you think is best for us.
